The one I owned before this lasted 17 good years and then suddenly black smoke started billowing out from the hood on the Pulaski Skyway.
I was supposed to meet @tomsugrue.bsky.social for lunch but had to call with the best excuse ever: “My car blew up.”

Fun times 😀
My sister's story, tho: School friend's dad lived in Carmel. They went home for weekend. Free laundry!! On way back, car blew up on Highway 1. Entire wardrobe minus boots and what she was wearing gone. Saved toothbrush.
My next car, an ’03 Civic, lasted me until the pandemic. They’re rock-solid cars.
Then its front wheel fell off.
That wasn’t the end! The kid at the auto shop fixed it up and drove it some more! 💪
Car got a new timing belt and ran for 4 more years before I replaced it
Fascinating that it’s too dangerous for them to get out but not for you.
I was on a state line and just inside the distance for a AAA tow to Princeton.
But first AAA guy dropped me off in another guy’s territory so he wouldn’t have to make the trip.
I ended up purchasing one of the Borough of Princeton’s finest Chevy axles to get home.
I still miss that car.
