I was following politics pretty closely 20 years ago too but when Bush won reelection in 2004 I remember thinking "Damn, that sucks" and then getting on with my day. Didn't consume all my thoughts and affect my work and relationships like it does now.

A thought I sometimes have is that, despite being an extremely politically aware person, it'd be close to impossible for me to point to any Trump policy that actually affected me in a noticeable fashion.

Even extending this to my friends, the list is like... Dobbs. That's basically it.
