lots of people in my local reddit/facebook groups complain about cameras as a "cash grab" and it's always been a real head-scratcher

you don't have the right to break the law, fining you for doing so is totally fine, and there is One Easy Trick to avoid these fees

I'd bet you they are the same people calling for cyclists to have registration so they can be fined an arm and a leg every time they don't completely stop at a stop sign. Without any irony and completely oblivious to their own hypocrisy.

the only objection i'll entertain is if the cameras are concentrated in places where minorities live and absent where wealthy white people do. i want them placed according to where speeding-caused accidents occur.

Even then, wealthy white people very often drive *through* those places because it's more convenient to them. An ideal solution is to saturate everywhere with enforcement systems and then set fines based on car value or something
