Fate characters showing up in melty is the same as Final fight characters being in street fighter. It was always good. People were overreacting to just having characters from the shared universe show up in their other series.

eeehhh, debatable. I think its perfectly up to taste on if there were too many FF characters in SF, and when SF and Melty had SO many characters they could've had return, I think its reasonable to be disappointed when theres multiple characters from a tangentially related series instead

Part of it is cuz those characters that aren't returning aren't in the tsukihime remake , which is substantially different, kinda doing the ff7r thing of "this is actually another timeline"

Not surprising, every arc in Tsukihime was originally another timeline, only with a little bookend to say that Shiki remembered living through all of them so you could basically headcanon the truth to be whatever the hell you want.

The sequel only doubled down on this.

Old melty blood is just Tsukihime characters, some melty originals, and ryougi from Kara no kyoukai

More important is that type lumina is also lacking a lot of classic MB staple characters. There's justifications for some tbf. No Nanaya, no Sion, no Satsuki, no Len, etc. There are far fewer "alt" characters (vaki/sei, nanaya, mech, etc.) which hurts variety w/o moon select.

It's hard to put all into one post, which is why I'm making a second. But even in AACC the alternate versions were very fundamentally different. If you liked Akiha, you basically had 9 versions to pick from. In MBTL, there is only one. At least we got maids, pciel, and red arc.
