The content of the op-ed shouldn't even be litigated. If it is going to come down to arguments about what she wrote, you've already lost: that cedes the point that she *could* have written something that made this justified.
She was flagged by anti-Palestinian doxxing group Canary Mission due to the op-ed, which raised her profile, and let to the administration targeting her.

I'm afraid it's a TLDR; for most though.
"I just did my job" or "I was following orders" wasn't always accepted as a get-out-of-jail-free card at the trials in Nuremberg.
If you don't mind me spoiling history for you, the trials came after
* millions of germans died (killed by other germans, but also.. everyone else in self defense)
* most major cities where reduced to rubble (we still regularly find boms)
And "justice" was far from perfect: the people most responsible (Hitler, Göbbels, many others) managed to flee / die / kill themselves beforehand. And many others escaped justice.
But it has to be said that for some, by the time they knew what was happening, they didn't have much of a choice. Hurt someone else or watch the police hurt your family.
And then they DID bring down the whole world with them.
(Funnily enough It's the same that applies to Putin..)
