Please treat game developers with respect.
You have no idea of what they are advocating for you on your behalf and by being toxic or negative and forcing them to make changes and playing armchair gamedev you are inevitably pushing your BIGGEST CHAMPIONS out of the room.

See downfall of dice.
The real enemy if there's to be one is execs in high places who can't even charge a controller staring at numbers and chasing trends
Fans having lines of communication to Devs and the endless cycle of pre-release info, which sets unreasonable expectations, has created a very unhealthy environment for art to be made in.
Once upon a time, you had to release a game and that was it! It's done.
Maybe later, if it's popular, they'll release an updated version or extra levels on a CD.
The ability to develop in real time was maybe a bad idea. 😁
Blame game company CEOs and executives.
But if Steam/Valve ever goes bankrupt, I'm definitely screwed, lmao.
Also everything else the other person said was valid
The deadpool and scott pilgrim games are the two big notable ones
I've been grousing about a game.
Ultimately, it's not the Peridot game's developers who are keeping it stagnant. I'm sure it has more to do with Niantic and their priorities.
Don’t turn on your working class comrades.
We need to be smart consumers.
We needn't buy a thing because of those who made it.
Reward good products with your money and more good products are made.
If less people fell for predatory monetization and didn't push along these "forever games" the industry would (eventually) adapt.
Your argument can also be translated to Dems/Repubs in the middle getting criticized by Leftists pushing them to the right.
no need to get all uppity and crotchety over anything really
Fuck out of here
Be nice!
Yes if you don't like a game don't buy it. But it's not the devs deciding what type of game to make and what message to convey, except in Indie games maybe
I'm gonna have to heavily doubt you here.
The better studios are still raking in the profits, so you're exaggerating quite a bit.
Game devs are not special, they are doing their job, and I don't own them anything except what any human deserves.
Dictatorship , I keep hearing Trump say" I just need your vote and you'll never havevto vote again"🤬
They are toymakers, if they release a shitty/broken toy they deserve nothing.
"Being uncivil is entirely justified when you dislike or disagree with someone"
OP agrees with this sentiment too. He's either lying or very stupid, but either way, contemptable.
Shit goes hard, in fact I wasn’t interested in Avowed before but now??? I’m getting the fuckin ultimate edition just for that.
The mouth washing dev shit talking Asmon? Based af.
They design fun and art and fight to create something that will distract us from our worries, and all for whom? Gamers are toxic, spoiled brats regardless of age.
People bash devs without understanding the crunch, the constant learning, etc these people LOVE games, and gamers.
... But there are exceptions, unfortunately.
This goes for all industries and the world and if we dont wake up than we can say goodbye to our freedoms slowly
Game devs deserve constructive, rational criticism when they mess up. Game execs deserve scorn.
There ARE devs attempting to gain immunity from criticism, shifting blame to publishers at a whim for gameplay centric issues.
From my knowledge games are pretty easy to download and advertise.
I don’t suppose any devs reading have tips on how to best give feedback?
I think generally giving feedback or criticizing isn't problematic as long as you don't dive into toxicity. Meaning that you don't say things like "X designer should get fired" or "Y dev is subhuman".
For example, when giving design feedback, it's generally best to deliver tailored feedback to the individual receiving it to have the highest probability of getting your point across. But without a preestablished (1)
More like KCD or Europa Universalis titles.
For example, in EU4, the borders of states or assigned religions did not always correspond to historical sources. Not to mention the use of modern borders for medieval regions.
My personal favorite was people sending me hate mail at my place of work. 🤠
(Wait. I'm addicted to youtube, tend to self isolate, and might or might not fail in getting into the games industry? Oh no.)
Video games should be an escape from reality. Not force us back into the argument.
You should respect that passion.
you know... losers.
If I ever did get back into gaming I would never purchase another AAA title tbh, indie all day at this point.
ever ask why geeks n gamers doesn't even play any games, yet would rage on anyone that makes them
going from x to twitter
seems they are also now using some jerks moderation list that mutes tens of thousands of people they used to interact with on twitter that now they cant
including me
shakes head
yaa
perhaps they would do better to do same and get back to making things fun instead of being one side or other
in other words if your far far left or far farright i got ZERO use for your bullshit
wrong
and far left does samestuff too
both are idgits and are not majority they are both fringe loud mouths
thats as he says
constructive
do it civil and everyone might win if it comes
I have to say is you need to go touch grass and go find a hobby you can enjoy, fer real..
this is why i got a lot a fella immigrants from twitter to post the hobbies they enjoy as well as support ukraine
ITS HEALTHY
why?
cause im sure there are video games for them non wokie types too and thus its just them wasting there own time for no reason other then they want attention
You don't ever plan to implement things, that you know well you can't.
Is it a bad thing? Yes.
Is it avoidable? Sure.
Does it come from a bad will? Sometimes, probably.
like no the devs probably didnt want to cut that content, the producers or publishers made them.
They don't need kid gloves, but should *always* be treated with respect for their hard work.
AAA game devs? Here's my respect: Find a new job. Immediately. One where you are appreciated and where your choices matter.
It's scary as hell
They act like getting to work for a game company is such an honor that it's part of your compensation package.
Just go work for some no-name tech startup instead.
Tech startups usually come with low salaries and close to no job stability.
I will rephraise:
IF you can get a different job? You should do that.
1: too many developers
2: too few companies
The purchasing of small studios by Big companies has allot of influence on the market... Because there is too many developers... You can. Abuse them without choice.
Because there isn't enough companies, they get away with it
Where I live, there are a lot of private schools that offer costly programs to become a dev and promise jobs even though they know the industry is suffering and people have a lot of trouble finding jobs even with years of experience.
It frustrates and saddens me honestly...
Anything else?

People underestimate the value of play.
If the money is trickled down, so should the criticism
I will always blame management/executives though.
If you ever did that, you'd know because I would 100% be in your face about it, lol.
In fact, the only dev I have a personal beef with is whoever designed that DK helm in Hellfire Citadel that looked like a cloth helm.
Not real beef obviously though lolol
Unless it's an Overwatch dev. They don't even play test their own game.
an ama thread here.
Cyberpunk to name one title, then what do you expect?
When you get something wrong at work, you can either be given constructive feedback, or a political diatribe followed by a rant about how your existence should end.
Which of the two seems appropriate?
That's the point.
but for any average person it's pretty hard to draw the line between virtue signaling and people who fight against real hidden problems
