I depends on the reasons & implementation. In the UK we have a state religion, albeit a quite inclusive one, always had morning assemblies, prayers, church visits and so on in school, and a minimal amount of Religious Education, I'm still an Atheist, and R.E. classes were a nice break from learning.
Texas just approved it. There is literally buildings where you can go to learn about religion.Like is it really hurting religion to NOT teach it in schools?!
So the tables will turn. The right who didn’t want their kids to learn about science and inclusion just homeschooled theirs kids, now the left will have to home school kids to protect their kids from being indoctrinated into religion
Couldn't agree more! Evangelism, indoctrination, assimilation, w/e has no place in education. Even roughly 300 years ago, they knew religion posed an inherent obstacle for the pursuit of knowledge.
You mean the Satanic Temple. Church of Satan is a different entity. But yes, I expect they're going to be joining this fight very soon, and to wonderful (and hilarious) effect.
Yep, there was a real good reason our forefathers separated church and state. That was one of the main reasons they left Europe and came to America. Who said the quote about 'those who refuse to study the mistakes of history are bound to repeat them'?
There should be not be a Government Enforced Religion period! These morons call themselves Constitutional Conservatives and they've never read the Constitution...
Why do these theocrats feel the need to shove religion down the throats of public education when bible school exists? It's just a pathetic excuse to control and brainwash children and then they have the nerve to accuse the LGBTQ+ of grooming kids. It's the most hypocritical nonsense imaginable.
If they want to teach religion in public schools, they should offer primers on all of the various types. You'd be amazed at how similar they are to each other.
Their churches are failing, attendance is way down. How else can they groom children if they don't take over the schools looking for young people who will grow up to be cash cows so the churches will donate money to republicans campaigns.
This crap should be in court...who you worship or choose not to is no one's business....it sounds like indoctrination...Texas...Oklahoma....get right down there...church and state are still separate
Separation of church and state is so important. We've seen in history what life is like when religion rules, and it never turns out well. Power corrupts.
As we regress, the Supreme Court has converted us to a kingdom (presidential immunity) and our states are beginning to impose Christianity as essential indoctrination in our public schools. With tRUMP and his cronies at the helm, our democracy is destined to extinguishment. How did so many get dumb
Fair. CRT is a religion so I agree with banning it in schools. Communism can be considered a religion too, ban in schools. Some people consider LGBTQ+ curriculum to be religion... ban it too. Bring back civics and biology. Couldn't agree more.
It should not be for someone else to tell you which God to believe in; you should be able to weigh up all the different religions and decide for yourself which God seems the most likely to be real. Or choose atheism if you think they're all too far fetched.
Religion has no place at school. Period. No clubs. No individual activities. No religion at school. It is the only possible way to ensure school is about learning and nothing else.
I really don’t get it. Places like Oklahoma putting the Bible back in schools. Why do they have a monopoly on what book/religion kids can be exposed to in public schools?
If you take a look at the numbers, Oklahoma is one of the worst states in terms of education. More secular states, such as Massachusetts, are some of the best. A wise man once said it isn't the lack of Jesus in schools, it's the lack of Jesus in the churches.
I do not believe the violence of the American Revolution was justified. There is more justification for violence against all the perpetrators and abetters in this case.
It’s because if they indoctrinate children and brainwash them into thinking and believing whatever nonsense they want them to then they’ll vote Republican. If they can’t do that then Republicans will stop winning elections because they have to have uneducated voters to win.
I truly believe that any public school that brings religion into their school (ie...bibles, lessons, etc.) should lose their government funding until it's rectified.
Religions and Royal houses are historic pre-information pre-democracy power syndicates. They shall be closed-if not already-and the artefacts brought to museums-next to fairies and other superstition.
Both OK and TX are requiring Bibles to be present in all public schools in addition to religious indoctrination of public school students. LA already requires the ten commandments to be displayed in all public schools, I expect they'll join in the madness as well
Religion is the favorite facade of predators and HYPOCRITES from hell itself. The gop would cheerfully crucify christ. Too liberal and he was an immigrant in a robe.
Here's an idea: How about schools just teach about religions, yes, plural. Religions are part of human society that cannot be rid of, so a fact-based study about each religion needs to be taught in school, as to avoid discrimination and growing hatred against each religion.
Atheism, agnosticism, theism, teach it all... understanding ideologies and faith that run in our society is a way to understand how to interact and compromise.
Relying on students to do their own research is proven to be ineffective. Some students may do thorough research, but most would just eat propaganda about religions on the internet and thus grow prejudices. Most of what people share online about religions are propaganda or opinion based, not facts.

We are witnessing the rise of the 4th Reich.
And GOP voted for it.

Oklahoma never, ever banned praying or taking Bibles to school.
Source: I went to Okla public schools 1st grade through college and my kids are in Okla public school now.
Bible studies taught in public school should never be allowed.
Prior to and during the American revolution the Bible was the most widely read book in the Colonies and out sold any other book by 10 fold
Even Thomas Paines common sense was based on religious beliefs
The loss of separation of church and state is the beginning of the end. Resist this one with your loudest voice!💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Don't b!tch about it, BE about it!
Write and call your senators!
Pass it on!
Period.
