no doubt is in the conversation. so hard to rank or score talent though. is no point system lol. also impossible to screen out biases. i think it's enough just to be included in a conversation like that. cheers.
All-around talent blue ribbon goes to either Maya or Eddie in my book, but Kate's likely the most reliable for making me laugh so hard my abs get sore.
I think some people in here have nostalgia bias for the cast members who died. Jim, Gilda, and Phil were good, but they just didn't have the range as Kate McKinnon or the charisma of Eddie Murphy. Bill Hader had both.
Gilda had a spark, a vulnerability, that transcended all her characters. You just loved her. Kate changed and embodied the roles she took on. You forgot it was Kate. I don’t think they’re comparable and I don’t want to give up either of them!!!! 💕
Definitely in the top five - listen to the latest Al Franken podcast where he talked about how the most versatile cast became glue because they could adapt and bring a skit together. Phil Hartman was glue, too. I think Kate too was glue
But man, her ability to just completely morph into other humans almost feels wasted on sketch comedy. She better give spy work a chance at least once, is all I’m saying.
Also, her Robert Mueller costume and impression was the best thing since Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin
Carvey and Kristen would be my battle Royale and not sure I could argue for either one to win but they (and Armisen) contributed 3x as much memorable brilliance as anyone old or new
Yes, I agree, she is a scream! I also love Kristin Wiig, Amy Poehler, Gilda Radner, Jane Curtain, Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, Leslie Jones, Ana Gasteyer, and Molly Shannon. Funny funny ladies!
Yeah I have to agree 100%. I’m old enough to remember Gilda Radner, and she was amazing yes but Kate gets the top spot bc her range of characters is extraordinary.
Jane, you ignorant slut! ;)
I tapered off watching it after the beginning years, 10 or so, I didn't see much of Kate... Gilda will always have that spot in my book.
I don’t know about most talented, that’s pretty hard to judge, but I’d wager that she’s the most fearless and fearless trumps talent on a show like SNL.
Yesss!! Especially because she's mentioned her mom in a previous sketch where she's pantsless in a parking lot and says "Jesus Colleen, you've become your mother!" Or something like that 😂
That's the beauty of opinion. I believe you're not wrong and you're not right, but you're perfect 8n how you see it. I think she's super talented and funny. I feel the same way about Phil Hartman. But I know so many people would disagree with me. And that's cool. Nice pick.

But it’s

But seriously…she’s great. The best? She’s no Wigg.
He is just pure comedic genius.

Gilda Radner.
Her forest!
All the original cast members have talked over the years and stated how she was easily the most talented.

If you never heard of the Big Gay Sketch show, I would suggest watching it. It is where I first saw her before SNL.
The current cast just acts out TikToks the saw last week.
There's simply the greats.
Besides, there's talent, and then there's talent! 😁
