Absolutely. Friends, family, acquaintances, random people, doesn’t matter. I laugh at them when they say “but I didn’t know” or “I made a mistake”. Too little, too late.
Zero tolerance for MAGAts. By this time you know exactly who and what he stands for. Nothing but utterly contempt for the reugnants who are still enabling him. The GOP is dead.
I really do try to be more present in everyone’s moment. Learn why they feel what they feel, listen, etc. I struggle with finding respect for them despite my view of respecting their reasoning even if unfounded. Many uneducated folks who just don’t know what they don’t know.
There are personal beliefs, political beliefs and then there are objective realities. Trump voters are either too stupid to understand the objective reality of climate change, or they do understand it and choose to deny its reality because of sloth and/or greed.
Neither warrants my respect.
We’re never going to win another election. These memes don’t help anybody or do anything but act as the opposite equivalent of MAGA itself. At some point our collective circle jerk has to end.
I just get disappointed and pissed at them. They support a man who will surely cause severe damage to the country and just be sucking off Putin in the Oval Office. I just lose hope in them.
Yes I do. Is it fair? No it isn’t. But the moment I find out that you voted for trump I start to make certain assumptions about you. Assumptions that you’re ignorant, intolerant, and that you believe some people don’t have the right to exists are just a few assumptions I make. There’s more btw.
I'm not against ALL republicans/conservatives (some are horrified by what their party has become, but also have valid reasons not to throw their support behind the democratic party). That being said, I do hate every deranged christian nationalist psychotic maggot with every fucking atom in my body.
Absolutely!
My 2 sisters.
Racist Trump lovers who constantly bitch about their black co-workers, bitch about their tax dollars helping the poor, yet go to church on Sundays and wave around their bibles.
Disgusting hypocrites.
I disowned them years ago.
Somebody admitted they were a trump supporter before the election. He asked if we can still be friends. At the time, I said yes, but now that Don Old is about to assume power, I want to change that answer. We can be acquaintances, but not friends. I will have friends over for dinner. Not him.
I have a friend who was. He voted for him in 2016, and two years in, he regretted it. I love and respect that my buddy knew he made a mistake, and voted blue since.
He was a good dude to begin with, he's from the South, and him and his family always voted red. I'm just glad he changed sides, but I think his family were fiscal conservatives too. But, I am glad he opened his eyes.
Not immediately. I worked with ‘survivors’ of QAnon so always ask certain questions to see if the rusty cogs in the cult mind will move at all. If not then I don’t waste my time.
Would love to hear more. As there’s seemingly half a population that needs to get to „Trump support survivor“ status: what are the factors that can help people to get from Q believer to survivor?
And what are the questions you would ask to gauge for moving cogs?
🧵Thanks for the great query.
An example:
Maga- we’re getting rid of Obamacare.
You- ah! How did come to that conclusion?
M- trump said so but keeping ACA.
Y- ah. Can you help me understand the difference between ACA and Obamacare?
🧵(They probably will come around to a click in the mind that ‘oh shit moment’ as you gently introduce the truth) that is a cog movement.
That gentle kind of interaction is not invalidating which nobody likes. And often does open a small narrow pathway. Lots of work to do but just getting a cog move
At this point after the elections, I've lost a lot of respect. I've tried to deny so much of the ill talk over my people and now had been proven in front of me.
So I no longer can deny it, but I'm gonna use this information as a sign we need to start taking action instead of hoping for outcomes.
Of course. Met one of my neighbors during lock down (walking the dog). He told how much he liked Trump...I told him you f***ing idiot. He still follows me round trying to change my mind.
Yeah, I do. At work a customer told me she’s a republican, I laughed and asked her how that was working out for her. She ignores me when she come in now.
ABSOLUTELY!
And the loss of respect is permanent. Anyone that supports the abuse of migrant children is a sick sadistic animal and are simply wasted oxygen.
Good for them, I don't forgive or forget, and I am not going to welcome them back simply because they say "oops".
I would simply smile, wish them well, and close the door in their face. They chose to support child abuse and that isn't something to be erased with an apology.
Not immediately. We all have to work alongside eachother, I never ask. It's pretty apparent if they're stupid or lazy & claim that they're the reason a place functions properly. I tend to call attention to their gullibility, continually explain why they're stupid and they usually gain some sense.
I do, I have gotten rid of such people from my life. And continue to do so. These people need to get their heads out of their cultist megaphones they are listening.
No, because I know some people that are just mentally ignorant. They often are hippocritical and, in real life, love everything that they vote against. I will say that if they don't see what's happening in the next 2 years, then I'm done.
“Supporter” yes. Republican, no. There is room for differing views and goals. But there should be things we can all agree on in this country. Supporting a felon at the highest level of power regardless of what you think of “the other side” is one of them.
Sorry bud, all of trumps bullshit is just republicanism turned up. And it’s not even turned up to 11. Stupid, violent, greedy, he’s all of GOP policy wrapped into one man. “Republicans” are just as much to blame, from Ronnie on down, GOP are shitty people with shitty policy and shitty beliefs.
I would agree, unless they voted for the Republican at the top of the ticket. Then by definition they support him. The folks saying "I voted for him but I'm not a supporter" are wrong. They picked him!
YUP! this past summer wife and I went to Europe on a Med. cruise and the question we posed to each American we ran into was- did you ever vote for Trump? if answer was anything other than a stern "NO" we got up and left! PERIOD! no ifs ands or buts! btw Europeans by and large hate Americans!

Does that help?
Of course, the approach being non invalidating is key. That’s a real skill.
It’s why I hesitated on the OP‘s question, even though my honest answer right now is yes.
Trump voters
Verstappen fans
Brexit voters
The 3 unforgiveables for me.
