I'm here in Martinez I am about 2 miles south of the fire fortunately, the wind is blowing the opposite direction to the north, but there are warnings to shelter in place. Since the new ownership of the refinery facilities, there has been many mishaps. The previous owner had a better safety record.

Ok but that wasn’t a brush fire it was an industrial accident. Those happen at any time during the year there is no “industrial accident season.” Small fires at factories and plants aren’t uncommon.

This has nothing to do with Trump. The refinery has a long history of safety violations, fires, explosions and dumping oil into the Carquinez Strait.

This fire has more to do with long time safety failures at the refinery than anything else. I took these pics about 10 min after it started yesterday. We didn’t get the shelter in place notice until about an hour later; it got lifted last night.
