This is my book on folklore and rural crafts, which has a whole chapter on bees and beekeeping (and also lots of other things which would make it a great fit for the MERL shop!)
But I can't do much on the folklore of bidets I'm afraid
At our @mbchimp.bsky.social field site in northern Guinea the bees like to nest inside of the long drop toilet.. this makes the need to drop trousers over it an outstanding exercise in core body stability and maintenance of calming thoughts...
the history of bees is extremely well-represented in our library. our Cowan Bee Collection is an a to bee to z of bee lit, and has been described as the 'most comprehensive collection of its kind in the world.'
I donβt know how common this is in other Anglophone lands, but in US some (terrible! lazy!) ppl write βHappy Bdayβ for βHappy Birthdayβ and so that led to my friends and me wishing each other Happy Bidet for years.

Actually no, donβt answer that question, I think Iβve pretty much decided already, thanks.
In the future I shall be more careful on what I sit.
