People need to get out of the corporate news bubble--which fosters an *oligarchy* news bubble, and then leads to a fascist authoritarian *government* news bubble.
Amen to that. Not sure why Democrats allow this narrative to continue. Also, don't forget about Sinclair Broadcasting, which is infiltrating local news stations and mandating a subtle shift to conservative messaging
Sorry but when I watch American news I don’t see both sides of the story I only see trump is great. It feels like trump is running the news. My apologies if I’m wrong.
And the Fairness Doctrine (which had nothing to do with ownership) would not change that.
It had nothing to do with what news was covered - it merely required holders of broadcast licenses allow some airtime for diverse viewpoints (opinions) such as those presented on The View.
Wealth is a republican monopoly.
Even "liberal" billionaires are fiscal republicans.
Money makes people sick. It corrupts.
When you have enough money for a thousand lifetimes, and all you think is "not enough", you are sick. Period
The term "entitlement" has been bastardized by the for profit media + the billionaire class to become a pejorative when in fact it means the opposite of a handout. If you work or deal with uber wealthy you will find the most "entitled" people who have actually NOT earned what they feel entitled to.
Back in the '80s, I read something that said, roughly, that the media is only as liberal as their corporate masters allow them to be. We're seeing that now.
The problem is that the media does not refute his claims, and the ignorant MAGAs believe him. We should be able to see it through the same lens. This is what totalitarian state-run media looks like. The mainstream media is acting as a curtain to conceal abuses, not as a watchdog.
Dems need to run ads; Trump's running ads trying to convince people how strong a leader he is and how how wonderful "school choice" is--where are the Dems ads refuting it? How about ads talking about stealing our personal information--DO SOMETHING DEMS!
Good point. I've mostly seen ads from The Lincoln Project, but they are useless for refuting his lies or providing substantial information. Plenty of Dem ads prior to an election, though. Right?
Right, but my point is if Trump is running ads, Dems need to refute those ads, does anyone think Trump is a strong competent leader? Then say something, don’t let that thought marinade until people start believing it!
Time and time again, I howled about the owners of the media, all right wingers dedicated to pushing the GQP line. And nobody listened. I boycotted CNN and MSNBC and wrote the reason for it, but nobody listened. NOW everyone is surprised to learn that the media is owned by right wingers?
They're doing the same shit in Canada. Most of our media here is also owned by wealthy right wing Americans. And our right wing party, under Polliviere is threatening to sink our publicly funded broadcaster, CBC. Despite most Canadians disagreeing with this threat.

And as long as that list has ownership by entities other than the government, we look nothing like North Korea or Russia.
