Yeah totally agree. Have heard so many anecdotes of this (me being the listening in member of public in a crowd😎) - telemedicine, especially if it's a paid service, is seen as far more transactional. Problem in, antibiotic out.

Physical exam cannot give a certainty, but some kind of reassurance. On both sides. The doctor can see with their own eyes how mild the situation is -most of the time- and the patient know that a professional checked on them. No?

Makes sense. Just thinking of my own field, #UTI, where there seems to be so much treatment failure with no rhyme or reason.

Personally, physical exam yields way less than a clinical history. But the flip side is that a person exaggerating (not necessarily maliciously) their symptoms makes it hard to counter with definitely saying no antibiotics needed.
