Last evening, lawyers for the Department of Justice told a federal court that the administration does not believe it has a legal obligation to return Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia to the United States, despite a court order to do so.

Of course, it's the age old question of "not all, there are lots of good people etc." But way, way too many are openly ok with this and so many more quietly ok without saying so.
I agree. There are many indicators of Fascism. For me, disappearing people, without due process to some hellhole so-called prison from which they will never leave alive, is the main indicator. Then he plans to send US citizens there!!?!?!? We are no longer a democracy.
So which is it?It doesn't have the legal obligation or it's unable to return him he's in the custody of a sovereign nation? Repeatedly providing multiple, inconsistent explanations for all sorts of actions is really not helping the credibility of the administration. Our outrage isn't going to vanish!
Administration officials cling to the stunning proposition that they can forcibly remove any person migrant and U.S. citizen alike to prisons outside the US, and then baldly assert they have no way to effectuate return because they are no longer the custodian and the Court thus lacks jurisdiction.
Let’s be very clear about exactly what’s happening here
Trump is claiming the power to ignore the due process of the law guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, declare someone is a criminal, kidnap them, send them to prison in a third country and then claim that there is no way to get that person back
Here’s the thing: Once you give up the idea that we are all equal before the law and have the right to due process, you have given up the whole game. You have admitted the principle that some people have more rights than others.
Once you have replaced the principle of equality before the law with the idea that some people have no rights, you have granted your approval to the idea of an authoritarian government. At that point, all you can do is to hope that the dictator and his henchmen overlook you. (Heather Richardson)
This is analogous to murdering somebody here in the United States, and then claiming you can't be prosecuted because you shipped to the body to Africa.
Happened the day Tump took office. The United States is dead. Congress, & the Judiciary betrayed us as much as Trump did. The United States of America, as we knew it, is dead. Democracy in the U.S., is dead. And Congress, with a few exceptions, helped Trump do it. So did 5 Supreme Court Justices.
Everyone from Florida to Maine, &beyond, needs to meet in DC, in our 10s o'millions, &grind DC to a HALT until 🍊 calls CECOT & gets all the Venezuelans & Garcia headed back to the US
We absolutely must stand up for the vulnerable &show the strength of our mutual aid or we're going to lose EVERYTHING
Not sure if you receive Heather Richardson's daily emails - which is where this came from - but she simply an excellent writer on ongoing American politics and society.

@booker.senate.gov when will the Dems in congress shut down the Senate and House until 47 is impeached and removed.
No. Americans are slowly starting to understand that they haven't been free for a very long time.
