"amabs make more than women!" is a common one and its annoying not only because you're flat out denying trans women our womanhood, but because statistically speaking we DON'T make more than anyone else.

I think the way all nonbinary identities are aggregated together here is indeed problematic for several reasons as they are not a homogeneous, coherent group. TME vs TMA aggregation would be far more interesting

If they mean indigenous people, why are they the only example? And if they mean everyone, that's def racist. I 100% can believe it's a clumsy choice by well-meaning people not considering every word. I have no context and don't want to attack but just to check if maybe I am paranoid.

I am not indigenous and am not going to speak with authority on the issue. there is a problem with white people coopting terms from other cultures true, but there are also indigenous people who identify as two spirit and I’m not sure you should just unilaterally declare them problematic.

That's why I'm asking. Because I have never seen any, and the rare cases I've heard of indigenous use of this expression where not this use, but hope it's still legit. I'm not trying to police anyone except myself by checking reality against my bias.

fwiu there is a nuance in that it is simultaneously true that there are indigenous people who self-identify as two-spirit and also that it is used improperly as a catch-all term collapsing many different gender identity traditions from many different indigenous cultures

I would suggest it's possible you don't know that many indigenous people? I won't say that I do, but I live in an area where it's already a bit more common to be indigenous than the rest of the country and have only met two spirit people in LGBT spaces.

Yes indigenous people sometimes use two spirit, and sometimes acknowledge their gender identity in both colonial and indigenous terms, and sometimes don't use it at all.
