“We tried voting and it didn’t work” is a super common thing to hear on this website for being complete fucking nonsense. The thing is that voting *did* work and the people who did it more *won*, it’s that it was the villains.

state and federal Republicans wouldn't have dedicated enormous efforts over the last 50 years to systematically suppressing votes if they didn't matter
And there is a very massive and very very
well resourced world wide Anti-democracy full spectrum war effort, custom built to cause you individually dismay.
One of those inadvertent (?) confessions that voting “working” means “when I vote for a thing it means that thing happens or else voting is broken” for too many people.
If I deign to participate, my choice should determine the outcome. No, “determine” is too long, let’s say “dictate.” I should be the dictator of outcomes. Otherwise democracy isn’t working.
Quite apart from the misaligned expectations you describe, the larger issue imo is that voters *and* nonvoters don’t take any responsibility for their vote. Bad: I vote and expect it to determine an outcome but that doesn’t confer responsibility. Worse: I didn’t vote, therefore I’m not responsible.
was once told by the brilliant thinkers of bluesky that they'd already voted for Biden to enshrine Roe into federal law, it didn't happen, so why should they bother again?

That’s like the owner of the Washington Generals going on a signing spree
You’re basically the same as a MAGA.

There are no bad votes. There are only bad voters.
just their insistence that doing it again was pointless.
"Won't people die?"
"That's a risk I'm willing to make them take."
