This was "Jesus and John Wayne" by Kristin Kobes Du Mez. It mostly focuses on how both integrating and outputting vast amounts of consumer media has shaped Evangelicalism. I also found it a really good complement to the "reactionary camp" discussed Liberal Currents

Thank you! I’ll look for that one. It makes me think of R Marie Griffith’s “Born Again Bodies”, which is more about evangelical ideas of wellness/health and body image, but I’m guessing will end up being pretty darn related. It definitely speaks to what Hancox-Li’s article explores too.

But tldr, there's a ton of literature/cultural content around explicit sex and sexuality that comes out of Evangelicalism. I think we're often wrong to think of it as prudish: these things work back to "men are God made natural predators. Sexual aggression is natural and should be accommodated" /1
