On facebook marketplace, “mid century modern” is anything that was in my childhood home in the 1980s and 90s before my parents could afford to replace it with something better

Made by a mid century born new retiree who’s wife was tired of filling their days with trips to Lowe’s and Costco and told him to get a hobby. I know this is oddly specific but I’ve witnessed it. I have a patio table to prove it.
Hi! Would you consider using #alttext on the images you post? It's an important #accessibility aid for folks with low vision (and others) & you have a large following. Thank you!

My neighbors put out on the sidewalk a mid-century floor lamp. I took home, didn’t need to clean it up at all. It was all original excellent condition George Koval lamp that I sold for $500.
Furniture popular in the 50s. Picture the set on the Dick Van Dyke show - long low sofas, Danish cabinetry, etc. Also kitchen dinette sets with formica tops, metal legs, pleather seat cushions.
If you are in your 60s and thought it was tacky in the '80s, it is popular now with the millennials.
Not my style either, although I do have fond memories of waking from naps on those long, low, scratchy sofas. And also making blanket forts with the cushions. And I think some of the Danish Modern cabinets are very pretty, plus so well made compared with the faker versions today.
I love that I do not care. I mean I really love that I’m not trying to troll. I just am glad that I didn’t get that urge to label everything. I’m glad others do though. I just have no need.
Given that I saw mid century firsthand, it’s mid century. Modern, I’m not sure about. But it is the perfect accompaniment to lava lamps, velvet paintings, beer bottle art and carved candles. I think you, Sir, don’t know mid century work. 😬
bruh the mosaic looks cool yall are so mean 😭😭 somebody at some point put some love into that thang - its not some amazon particle board furniture with AI shitslop screen printed on it!!!!!!
I was just complaining about this the other day, watching old episodes of House Hunters with a friend. These people kept pointing at fireplaces and chair rail and track lighting and going, "And here's that mid-century modern I love so much!" Nobody knows what anything is.
I grew up in the era they now call mid-century modern (I'm 70). I have to tell you this sort of thing wasn't a thing back then. You're right, they don't know what mid-century modern is.
Have to say , I love this. 🤷♀️

'one of a kind' completely redundant here.
I have seen jewelry described as
boho*glam*vintage*victorian*art deco*
they just use trending tags to drive traffic to their stuff.

It’s more like, ‘Grandma did a tile puzzle and now it’s our coffee table.’
Mate, I have two junkers in the garage.
😆 🤣 😂
‘this person thinks they want a hayden wakefield coffee table but that’s only because they haven’t seen my sloppily tiled seagull table yet’
I have a shitpost theory that they literally ripped the mural off the wall and sold in on FB marketplace…
