Gene Hackman, the versatile, Oscar-winning actor whose big-screen roles ranged from a narcotics detective in “The French Connection” and a basketball coach in “Hoosiers,” to a blind man in “Young Frankenstein” and villain Lex Luthor in “Superman,” has died. He was 95 years old.
