While Gerry Connolly was a bulldog for Democratic values, I will always remember him as genuinely the funniest politician I’ve ever met. He had the timing and delivery to do standup. No doubt he’s cracking up the angels today.
We've had 14 elected politicians die in office in 5 years and a majority have been from cancer while 70+years old. We're on rate to have the most active politicians dying in a 10 year period since the 80s where the avg death was a heart attack while they we in their 60s. Age/health limits please.
Gerry Connolly was a true Statesman who put our rights and freedoms before his own needs, as evidenced in his unfailing and vociferous opposition to the draconian policies of an amoral president and administration. May the memory of his good deeds give us all the strength to fight for justice.
Why didn't he stand aside for AOC to take the position of power when she has 20 million followers & he has 4,000? A whole lot of time which could have saved America has been lost.
Nancy Pelosi was literally lying in a German hospital bed, recovering from a hip replacement surgery screwing over AOC in favor of this guy who just died for a top house committee spot.
And Nancy is going to toss the spot to a 82 year old next. A person even older than this dude.
It seems he was a great guy and an excellent public servant. I would still have taken AOC over him for the oversight committee leadership role 10 out of 10 times. Gerry, god bless him, will be in the ground and at peace. We who remain have to deal with the nazification of our country.
Condolences to his family and friends but you’re correct. People in power typically plan to die before they retire. Mitt Romney said in his book that Congressman confessed they would rather die than give up their power

His family doesn't need to see that and I don't need to know anyone that would do something like that.
Esophageal cancer is brutal.
All the good he did is completely wiped out by not retiring!
Fascist Enabling Bastard!

He sought committee leadership position knowing her had cancer.
