I'm not sure it even is 'efficiency', all the 'streamlining' I have seen over the last 40 odd years often isn't even cheaper, never mind the fact that outcomes deteriorate as a result, & the financial costs for that are never included in the cost benefit analysis.

You only have to look at the mess of Britain's infrastructure - water, energy, transport, health, and so on – to realise that the ideas of a DOGE are just purely horseshit, and more about taking good things away from people to transfer wealth upwards.

DOGE is about destroying, not rebuilding. It's brutality writ large.

DOGE is inherently immoral.

[I also hate this whole discourse as it utterly negates all the amazing people who worked in digital in UK public services for decades and have changed things for the better. And still are.]

Look at who else is using the language of DOGE on the UK: Reform. Moving fast and breaking things has been fundamentally damaging to democracy and society, and does not need further valorisation via clickbaity report titles. There are other ways to improve service delivery and performance
