My grandfather threw a surprise party (our family still debates which party it was, but I think it was her 75th birthday) for my grandmother, a woman who HATED surprise parties. Despite living with him, she refused to speak a single word to him for an entire year

My grandma Daisy lived to 98. Born in Milledgeville, GA in 1925, she saw the real shit. Her husband died at 25 and left her with 3 kids (and my dad was like me so that had to be hellish)

The sweetest lady I've ever known but I would also take her in a fight over just about anyone.
