Our whole tour, as soon as you passed the bookshelf, it was silent. Not a whisper from anyone. The creaking floor screamed. The whole way until the other end and back into the museum. Nothing but silence.
Or, they are encouraging those that cannot afford to travel to Amsterdam and American schoolchildren in the NY area to see and learn about the holocaust and the suffering of kids like them.
I could barely make it up the stairs, having need of a cane, and it was still worth every single step to see it in person and feel the history in those tiny rooms. Everyone should make that trip

I am reading The Diary again for the third time and listening to the audio book simultaneously. I love this powerful story of resilience. As an author, I appreciate the candor and tenacity of this young lady.
It's an actual place you can visit. Go to Amsterdam if you can, there's something to be said for being there first hand. The same with the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC, and in Dallas.
