I'm definitely curiously how a particular distillery here in Minnesota is going to react. Heard Sour Puss was pretty damn popular in Canada (and basically only goes to Canada) but is produced here in Minnesota. I can't imagine they aren't panicking.
Canada gets back at maga and we get screwed. Look at the money we’ll lose in munchies alone since weed is nationally legal. They have their own Pringles plant. Lots of jobs lost if they say F you and leave. They’re in other countries too. They can survive without us.
Where this is really going to hurt the U.S. is gas prices. Crude is measured in dimensions of heavy/light and sour/sweet, and refineries are optimized for specific mixes. Almost all U.S. produced oil is more light/sweet than U.S. refinery capacity wants, so needs to import the heavy/sour kind.
Middle East crude isn't heavy/sour enough for what the U.S. needs, basically the only sources for what U.S. refineries need to hit their optimal mixture mixed with U.S. shale oil comes from three sources: Canada, Venezuela, and Russia.
Right? I'm not much of a drinker any more, but when I was big into beer I just NEVER bought American ... and I always found it hard to find anything drinkable when travelling in the U.S., too.
This is awesome. But as a pretty regular Blue drinker, I’m sad for my wallet. Also, if there are tariffs on Jameson & Tully I’ll have to do the next four years sober and that’ll be awful.
I’m on the east side of the Peace Bridge. I’m feeling solidarity with my neighbors to the west but Labatt is the cheap beer here. I love a lot of local craft beers, but really wish these bullshit tariffs weren’t happening (amongst all the other horrors the Republicans are inflicting on us).
The last time I saw this country so universally, incandescently angry was when the rumours went around that the US women's hockey team had put the Canadian flag on their dressing room floor before the gold metal game and were walking on it at the Salt Lake City Olympics.
Being American I say that I support the hell out of this. America needs to be smacked so hard upside the head so it can (hopefully) get its shit together.
Grew up just outside Cincinnati but haven't lived there since 2008. Easy to forget about Beshear vs Massie, McConnell, the rest of the state and its history.
I think right now the directive is red states, but honestly at this important moment in history I'm on board with a complete boycott of all American products when there's a local Canadian option.
Yeah, just not totally clear what "red state" means? Voted for Trump? Governor's party affiliation? State legislature majority? Majority of Congressional members?

Maker's, Old Grand Dad, Elijah Craig are all KY bourbons. By "red state" logic, they shouldn't be there?
