She is, she was REALLY a phenom young leader, had all basic βcommandsβ down very young and led our second team for a couple races, we sold her to Bravermountain towards end of two year old season as was just shy of making our top 10 but thankfully she has thrived and been a great asset for BMβ€οΈ
Was she not the best fit for your team because of her speed or??? The reasoning about which dog is best for what place on the team, which kind of team, and so on is so interesting.
She was a kennel favorite but did get a little tired a few runs. Pepe absolutely by no means slow and led 2 1st place finishes for our second team but even a half mile per hour can make a difference in a dogβs endurance over a certain distance.
Iβm not advocating for this because ethics, but the idea of mixing some African wild dog genetics into Alaskan huskies is an interesting thought experiment
I remember... gawd, probably 20 years ago, a musher was joking about a wolf he encountered on the trail and he quipped "The rules clearly state you can not add any dogs you didn't start with, but they say nothing about adding wolves enroute."
I don't know who isaid it.
