Plot of Kingdom Hearts actually really simple: Leonard Nimoy travels throughout time and space to groom all your friends which will give him ultimate power and you gotta ungroom them and stop him

Yeah but that’s Gangster planet, not Film Noir planet. Totally different genres.
Though I guess if we go for dark slash bittersweet period piece where the hero doesn’t get the girl, then we could argue that The City on the Edge of Forever is a bit noir.
Bleach is an Anime about hunting down the hollow who are spirits without hearts using special swords empowered by the user's spirit and strength of will. It's pretty much the exact same plot as kingdom hearts. Hence the joke.
When you play the mobile games Nimoy is actually groomed by the hooded Ray Chase (Noctis voice actor from FF15) to be a sacrificial pawn in the grand scheme of reviving Final Fantasy Versus 13 and fighting literal darkness
It was briefly implied that Xehanort was the player character from the gacha game reincarnated. So for a while there YOU the player were the evil you had been struggling against all that time
Haha, honestly, that’s shockingly accurate for Kingdom Hearts! Leonard Nimoy (aka Master Xehanort) out here playing 4D chess while you’re just trying to save your friends from his convoluted schemes. Time travel? Check. Heart metaphors? Check. Pure chaos? Double check.
Its funny how within a genre of really odd and unique stories and characters.. Kingdom Hearts still stands out because it's like Mickey Mouse vs Sephiroth.
The protagonist of Kingdom Hearts is actually Xehanort... in this video essay I will explain to you why thinking about this stuff well into your thirties isn't stupid
The Gummi ship is the most dynamic and fascinating recurring character. It spends every game evolving in the hopes of eventually being liked and it never works.
somehow i had been blissfully unaware of how much of a shithead this guy is and reading about the Abe List saga proves there is such a thing as too much hater energy
apparently he just really enjoys voicing hades and will take any excuse he can to reprise the role. at least that vast hole of spite and hatred has a tiny spark of joy somewhere in its murky depths, I suppose.
Given where Kingdom Hearts 4's story is going it makes sense for Hades to show up but I still rolled my eyes really goddamn hard when he showed up in the reveal trailer
It's genuinely a feat to antiwoke weirdo yourself out of a career at his level and so quickly - the guy went from spending the 80s and 90s in some of Sergio Leone, Sophia Coppola, Scorsese and Cronenberg's best movies to playing Guilliani on no budget tv movies in the late 2000s.
Like, in a world where he'd shut the fuck up, or only been a *bit* weird, he'd have probably played the Dennis Quaid role in The Substance, instead, far as I can tell, not even The Daily Wire calls him up
It's stupid alright, but I still like it despite and partially because of that to be honest. Though part of me longs for the simpler times of Kh1 and the biggest plot twist simply being Ansem's slutty abs window and the impact it had on my ten year old self.
Lmao, I never thought of it that way. I guess that means the plot summary for BBS is that Luke Skywalker trains three young people to fight the darkness, but Mr Spock had other plans.

Leonard Nimoy from ever having ultimate power? I don’t think I’d get past the first level without saying, “works for me”.
Anger from the movie Inside Out: “Tread on me Zaddy”
I'm sure the Disney bias is strong with that one.
Look I love this series to death but the nonchalant-ness of Xehanort realizing that kills me
Ps: also where exactly was Eraqus’ heart? Inside the guardian with Terra? It’s so weird.

Let's do Pooh Bear vs Diablo next
I mean you're not incorrect, but also, screw you.
The answer is a lot.
