A follow-up on this - a confirmed diagnosis today, of the Inattentive type. If I had not thought "that's just the way I am" for years and blamed myself for being a scatterbrain, maybe I would have looked into it earlier instead of at 41. For anyone who needs to hear that.

I have an ADHD assessment tomorrow morning, and did not fill out the intake forms until the very last second because I also didn't fully read the email, and for the first time ever I hope they take this into account

felt like I should have been given a 2 for 1 diagnosis
Also found out I got diagnosed with ADHD at 13 but my parents never bothered telling me so... learning that was nice too.
So much time blaming themselves and so many years of coping mechanism.
sigh, anyway glad you are getting help. Proper treatment has been life altering for the people I know.
I'm thrilled to have you in the team
I'm glad you could get a diagnosis
I got diagnosed at a young age, and so to understand what I'd be going through, she sat down and started reading "You mean I'm not Stupid, Lazy, or Crazy?"
... and got about 1 chapter in before she went "WAIT A FUCKING MINUTE."
It's how I realized I'm probably also autistic.
(Not getting tested for it, b/c at my age--well, unlike with ADHD, there's not really any possible benefit to an official diagnosis, and a HOST of possible downsides.)
I have it. Little brother has it. Mom has it.
*EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MOM'S SIBLINGS* has it.
Erm..
Seems like they set out for us to fail
Frustrating to know I could’ve had the help I needed at a young age but so grateful I know now
I feel like maybe I should get an assessment at some point...
My appointment is next month
And I didn't realize I was nonbinary until I was 36.
I have to say it is very perturbing how many women I know, some of whom are very close friends, who didn't get a diagnosis till their late 30's/40's. Meanwhile they got me bang to rights in childhood.
It makes so much sense.
The front would be completely covered in text:
