I suggested questioning whether people really do find bullies “popular” or are bullied into supporting bullies… and the person I was replying to made a sadly good point that I might just be trying to rationalize some people into being better than they actually are. The alienation is powerful.
I'm a hard-headed humanist. I don't feel alienated as much as I feel disappointed. To submit to a bully's demands is a choice to avoid pain or increase power. Understandable. But I'd rather more would deny a bully their satisfaction and think in broader terms for the benefit of community.
