There is an ill-defined E.U rule that only countries that are within the geographical boundaries of Europe can join the E.U. But where those boundaries are isn't clear. For example, French Guyana is in the E.U as part of France.

Small islands are one thing, and even then they only gain a bit from being in the EU. With great distances the benefits of market integration become smaller.
It has same sense as UK not having comprehensive free trade deal with EU and replacing it with free trade deal with US.
Israel as part of EU has 100x more sense.
Now cue the angry people explaining why Israel isn't actually committing any warcrimes or crimes against humanity in Lebanon
Politics in Israel or Turkey can change, but Canada will not teleport into the Bay of Biscay anytime soon.
As a Canadian, I'm not sure we'd do well to become members of the EU (biggest sticking point I think is adopting the Euro) but I do hope we develop closer trade and cultural ties.
Main trade partner of Canada is and will be US. But you should diversify as much as possible.
As everyone else.
"Previously separated by only 26 kilometres, Canada and the Kingdom of Denmark now share a land border on Hans Island and a new maritime border of 3,962 km, which is the longest in the world."

Canada joining the EU would be magnificent but unfortunately it's pretty unrealistic. Leaving the American regulatory sphere would be extremely expensive for Canada.
Idk if Canada joining the EU would be good for anyone, but it is suddenly on the radar, and seemingly everyone agrees that closer ties are a good idea.
