English children are not required to take the subject at A level why should migrants? (unlike their Irish counter parts who take both English and Irish right to leaving cert)
Splitting the infinitive is perfectly fine in Germanic languages. It's one of those snotty attempts to make English more like Latin and Greek where you can't actually split the infinitive. See also: ending a sentence with an preposition.
When I was a medical copy editor I once had a cardiac surgeon email me with, "HOW DARE YOU SPLIT AN INFINITIVE IN MY NAME!"
Another made me change 'atria' to 'atriums' throughout a lengthy text book.
I liked the second one better.
Is it just me that thinks it's incredibly needy to win an overwhelming parliamentary majority in a general election, and to then spend the next five years trying only to appease the people who DIDN'T vote for you?!
I’ve lived in 3 countries where English was not the majority language, and not one of them required a language test. The UK however has long since required proof of CEFR B1 level for a work visa. Upping the requirement further to exclude functional English seems to be playing to racists again.
B2 is right below C1, which is what I was required to have for university, I believe
Generally speaking, I'm for it. It doesn't sound that harsh. But I assume short-term it will impact many unnecessarily? Not everyone REALLY needs a B2 for work...
I am Romanian myself. If someone forced those people to learn English, I would definitely support it. They desperately need it to improve their lives. Lacking language skills keeps them poor and vulnerable.
I split my infinitive once. It’d been raining, the tiles were slippy!
‘A’ level english, Do fuckoff, we the people of liverpool will have to be annexed

What an embarrassment of a PM 😭
… but when it comes to proving it, it amounts to much the same)
He used to pick me up on split infinitives as he perused my reports.

Fuckit, I'll get on the next boat!
I have other A-Levels, and 3 degrees, but I guess they don’t count.
Do we kick them out too?

They don't ask visa applicants to take an English Literature exam, do they? 😂
Wait... DO THEY ?! 😂
They grow angry and isolated. It's really upsetting to see, and their politics hurt Romania. May 18th, their votes could give Simion (pro-RU) a win.
But maybe I'm overthinking this.
