I'm a published autistic poet. All my autistic kids love rhymes, rhythm, puns, repeated words, funny sounds and patterns. Ogden Nash is a favourite. Some people may never write a poem I suppose - but poetry can be excellent for the autistic mind.
Here's a little poem I wrote
Just for Robert, who can lick my scrote
I wrote it just to prove a point
Now pardon me while I smoke this joint
Fuck you, Bobby
I met him and had dinner with him and a group of other people at a very good Chinese restaurant. Conversation was going swimmingly until Les mentioned that he thought the Columbine shooters were only doing what he wished he could've done lol. Lovely guy but not exactly socially... normal.
have you seen poetry lately, or ever. do you think the guy who wrote "I should have been a pair of ragged claws / scuttling across the floors of silent seas" because he was afraid of pussy was normal. do you think housman having a panic attack about music was expressing his neurotypical nature
I try hard to avoid supremacist thinking, but from the POV of the mechanics involved, it's sometimes challenging to imagine neurotypicality producing the sheer intensity of weirdness and being into something THAT much that a person produces that level of work
famously normal guys like whitman and wilde and yeats and o'hara and whatnot. sure, whatever. a fellow definitely writes "whitey on the moon" out of a normal set of concerns emerging from an everyday and socially normal brain
