SCOOP: The US Dept. of Education and GOP Rep. Dan Crenshaw will each recognize "DeTrans Awareness Day" tomorrow with events featuring anti-trans activists.

In lieu of a press release, I’m told the Dept. event will be covered exclusively by a reporter from The Federalist.

It’s too simple to say this is about hating trans people. I know several young people who firmly identified as trans and then didn’t. Anyone who detransitions learns insurance doesn’t cover medical care in that direction. And they’re often accused of transphobia – in my experience that’s untrue.

We live in such a polarized climate that recognizing the needs of detransitioners is interpreted as hating trans people. But when activists construe care for kids who change their mind as hateful, they lose public sympathy. This need not be zero sum. I want both groups to thrive.
