If you click the “WEB” tab at the top of your Google search results it will show you results the old way, no “AI summary.”

Unfortunately, you still end up with google's crappy seo-generated garbage. The magic of google died before AI turned up on the scene

Have you figured out a way to get good, effective results on Duck Duck Go? I'm generally finding 1-2 pages worth of the most search engine optimized slop, & none of the kind of real websites (or forum) results google of even 2 years ago would have gotten me

I want to love DDG, but it is a struggle

https://Ecosia.org doesn’t force it on you. The results are a mix of google and bing so not great but not worse than google itself

But if it uses Google and Google automatically uses AI, does it still result in an AI query even if I don't use the query results?

Well, all search engines use AI in some form to parse the search query and always have. Ecosia doesn’t give you the LLM-generated “AI summary” which is what many people including me find objectionable about Google now. Just ads followed by the search results.

Some people have recommended the paid search engine kagi. I don't know if it fits the bill, I haven't tried it yet.
