Where are my Gonzaga haters? Not as many here as there are on Satan's Site™, I reckon, but I'm obligated to update this for you. Zags have now outperformed their seed 14 of the past 17 years.

ok, I re-read and get the "average performance of seed" part, but comparing average performance doesn't have the same impact as "expected performance based on seed."
The beauty of this "math" is that a #1 seed making it to the Final Four has "outperformed" since only 40% of #1 seeds get that far, similarly a #2 getting to the Elite 8 or a #4 making the Sweet 16 are over achievers despite the fact that they are supposed to make those levels based on their seeding
Good win. I assure you that most everyone had them beating Georgia. Especially us Georgia fans. Just wish we would have kept it closer to start the game.
as an old zag hater from seattle, i remember graduating college in 2005 and being like “their string of success will end soon, its got to” and now im dead, buried and my bones are dust.
If they get at least one upset win. For example, it could be was weak as a 5-seed making the Sweet 16 or a 9-seed winning one game, or could be a 15-seed winning. 2-seed in the Final Four, etc.

Go Zags!
So far this year they have avoided UNDERPERFORMING, but that's not the same as outperforming.
Hating Dook, on the other hand...
Doing what you are supposed to do is not overperforming, the fact that historically more #9 seeds have won than #8 seeds does not change that.
But let's be generous, and say that #8 should win 60% of the time... but then lose vs. the #1 seed 90% of the time.
That means the average #8 team still wins less than one game. Gonzaga already beat that.
Love the players, coach sucks.
They have the talent to beat Houston. They won't.
