It looks like nasauniverse is #1.

And yet, all they have to do is not represent themselves as NASA, curate genuine images with a good explanation and proper credit, provide ALT tags, and then link to legitimate source so people can learn more about how the picture was taken and who took it.

We're still only scratching the surface - most people are not using the content scraper list and for them, the Bluesky Discover feed is also full of scraper accounts (just open Bluesky in an incognito tab) 😬

I think that's actually fine, though. It allows the community to moderate itself in a way that an official moderation team couldn't keep up with.

Yeah, officially banning them from the platform would be hard since many might still be acting on a legal grey area overall which probably prohibits an outright ban.
I'm already glad for the tools we have been given.

Even though they have now added a notice that they're "run by a third party", stay away from them, especially with their history of impersonation and posting AI imagery.

They've also been added to the content scraper list, so if you subscribe to it, you don't need to block them individually.

Yeah, I suspect they added that notice only because the rule changes meant add that notice or get banned.

They have been on my personal blocklist for a while... glad they're now also on @franzanth.bsky.social's content scraper list!
