Maybe I miss something, but the threat to sue Kiesewetter was a bluff. Kiesewetter uttered an opinion about what he thought was likely. Even if it had been the statement of a fact: If Scholz thinks calling Putin does not compromise his honor, why would meeting him in person do so?

Make no mistake here, Kiesewetter is a member of the right wing CDU a direct oponent of the SPD and there is an upcoming election in a few weeks.

This is as likely to be fake as it is to be true. Both sides are not to be trusted.

Kiesewetter seems like one of the more competent CDU politicians and I hope he will be part of the ruling coalition (but I doubt it) but in this case I don’t think he that he presented any proof of his claim. After the backlash he got because of the call I don’t know if Scholz would be that stupid 🤷🏻‍♂️

Roderich Kiesewetter exposed that gambit and by doing so effectively thwarted it. It shows us that the SPD is still mired by Kremlin-friendly elements, while sensible people of the SPD like Defense Minister Boris Pistorius are getting sidelined.

He is part of the committee for external affairs, that would be informed of a visit like that. So he had the knowledge but wasn't allowed to share it.

Both CDU and SPD have a Kremlin friendly wing (and of course AfD IS one). Follow Scholz' policies to find out if he's part of it.
