I’ve got the Saturday read in today’s Guardian.
What can Labour do now?
Expect a massive push for a change of economic strategy in the coming days.
“Why are we not picking the fights we can pick on our own turf?” one minister asks.

Things were in such a state they were never going to turn it round in a year.
How can they reduce housing costs without building more houses? You want more £bns in subsidies to energy companies?? They’ve started on taxes & HOLs
They’ve passed more legislation than any govt in 20 years. Repealing laws takes time from that, should they not have passed employment rights? Or rail renationalisation?
Workers rights HAVEN’T been watered down at all.
Private school fees not attract VAT.
Labour are literally meeting the EU this month & are expected to agree YM deal as well as trade easing
Other members of the cabinet and advisors with developed political intelligence and a robust value system do not seem to be listened to.
Renationalise. Tax the rich.
Keynes was right, stop trying to prove him wrong!
If this doesn’t happen, they will lose the next GE by a landslide. Deservedly.
facilitated Israeli war crimes & genocide;
continued Tory austerity policies;
targeted cuts to the most vulnerable, children in poverty, pensioners, disabled people;
continued hostile rhetoric about asylum seekers, refugees & immigrants;
failed to nationalise water; …
Only those policies they can’t afford to remove because the tories also wrecked the economy & everything else.
The only cuts this applies to are the disability benefits, which are bad, but still the tories fault.
They haven’t targeted children ..
They haven’t continued hostile rhetoric against immigrants, they have just restarted the asylum applications process & applied the law ..
I’m fairly sure I could find terrible ones from niche publications who don’t worry too much about facts & concentrate more on feelz
I would ask you to consider that compromises aren’t evil & sometimes you can’t get 100% of what you want, settling for 95% or even 51% instead, if that’s all that is possible is still a win.
Maybe think about the country rather than your own wishlist
failed to address waspi issue;
cut Green NewDeal & u-turned on net zero;
hurt small business with NI increases;
bodged inheritance tax on farmers;
mimicked the worded bigotry of Reform;
Continued privatisation of NHS;
Dithered on social care reform;
Avoided addressing the failure of Brexit;
They didn’t cut the green new deal, they just changed the messaging & certainly haven’t u-turned on net zero (why lie?)
They put mitigations in NIC rise in place for small businesses & …
Didn’t “bodge” IHT at all, rich people don’t like paying taxes (I thought you’d be in favour!🤷)
They haven’t mimicked Reform wording at all! 🙄🤦
Definitely HAVEN’T continued …
Dismal.
Yours was a dismal attempt to sell misinformation & lies.
failed to demonstrate any principles or decency;
tickled the tummies & vanities of fascists (Farage, USA, Italy etc)
become obedient puppies to Rothermere, Murdoch etc;
dismantled environmental protection within planning system;
said nothing that made sense in the transgender kerfuffle;
…..
Other than making sure that the far right instigators & perpetrators of the riots were jailed & Ukraine was supported & the NHS was better funded along with schools & councils, & free breakfast clubs for all kids, etc, etc 🙄🤦
…
Lots of people are claiming this, but I’m not seeing any actual specific instances.
Without a promise of PR at the very least they won't. Without a promise of meaningful alignment with the EU they won't. Without a commitment to social justice they won't. I voted Green btw.
but, then, so were Boris Johnson (2019), and Starmer (2024)
It was Johnson and his dishonesty that ultimately triggered the demise of the Tories
Starmer has ignored concerns of Labour members
How long will Farage's honeymoon last...Less than Trump's?
Coming a mile off… https://apple.news/AJ7QmTMORRY-8Rz1dXCc0Qw
U.K. Nursing Unions have got the balls to even show their complicit gullible faces to NHS staff who will be on the same grade; but paid LESS than the Indian staff , is beyond me…
2- Check out Canada/Australia strategy re Farage/Trump
At what point to individuals have a responsibility for their own knowledge?
It’s a double whammy.

Brexit? Vetoed.
Taxing wealth appropriately? Death by bacon sandwich.
Let’s face it, nothing else makes any sense regarding their lack of ambition.
He gets the benefit of the doubt & should he be focusing on becoming LOTO
STOP TURNING RIGHT YOU DUMB FUCKS.
Something that really stands out is that Reform voters “support a strongly interventionist, leftwing economic agenda”. This presumably includes a large chunk of Corbyn-supporting ex Labour voters?
The "Labour" Party no longer exists.
All things Starmer's Labour won't actually do, they will just rant about immigration
(1) by the next election the government will be making tangible improvements to public services,
(2) a spending blitz would risk a Liz Truss-style meltdown,
(3) progressive voters will vote tactically to stop a Reform-Conservative coalition.
(2) Doesn’t apply to responsible spending via progressive wealth taxes.
(3) Trump’s 2025-28 version of America might scare voters back, or its dystopian example might lead to a tempered, more moderate Farage.
They are removing hereditary peers, as they said they would & will reform the HOL, it’s not really something to rush.
Why is spending £200bn we don’t have better than forcing them to do their job?
