And yet when his RSB passes (as required in the coalition agreement) he will in effect become the president of New Zealand

For those unaware, the RSB gives the Minister of Regulations the power to veto and alter any law passed by Parliament - with no oversight

I suspect it won’t stand up to testing. First time the courts get involved they’ll remove its teeth due to it creating legal conflicts. Basically the law will rule that government as a whole trumps one minister.

That’s not a valid example. NZ politics doesn’t work like the US no matter how much Seymour tries to act like it does. Our judiciary tend to be sticklers for rule of law rather than party faithful decisions.

Seymour’s bill will struggle in practice because it simply doesn’t work.
