I'm guessing it's "I don't know what a Greenland is so it's okay to take it over" or something similar but I'm still baffled
As best I can tell the idea is so weird that most Americans hearing it forget it immediately.
Do Americans support sending ANYONE to a foreign prison WITHOUT BEING CONVICTED OF ANY CRIME? I bet approval would sink like a stone.
Try again, ABC News.
I mean, you could almost persuade ME that sending our most violent repeat offenders out of the country makes sense.
And here is the relevant bit.
Glad to help.
Even I’d think briefly about putting convicted violent offenders in foreign prisons.
"d. Sending American citizens who are convicted of violent crimes to prisons in other countries."
Response: 32% Support 66% oppose.
Interpret it differently if you want, but that's what Trump wants to do and that IS the support level for it.
14% approval is as good as it gets.
That it's specifically about citizens makes it scary even though it's 2/3 majority
Trump is THREATENING THE FORCEFUL ANNEXATION OF A SOVEREIGN COUNTRY which will be considered an act of war by Canadians.
US media must stop with the euphemisms and call it what it is!
For reference: Martin Niemoeller's famous quote "First they came for the Communists..."
We stopped endless power struggles by agreeing to rules. Trump doesn't think they apply to him, but can only win if others do.
