π§΅Trump's strategies are like a "blitzkrieg" version of Putin & the oligarchs rise to power in post-Soviet Russia
Many don't know this history like they do Nazi Germany
It was called "The Roaring 90's of Russia"
Same bs golden era Trump is pushing, line by line.
Here's how golden it really was:

I knew the "pain now gain later" is a scam. Didn't know it was originated in Russia.
Also that Russia 1990s story needs to go viral. Do you have any way to get it to Maddow to do a deep dive? Perhaps you can be her guest?

And please, Americans, read this.
Your current Administration are not 'Nazis'.
They're post-Soviet crooks.
That's worse. The fash is just part of the Awful, not its source.
As usual, very relevant & outstanding reporting, Denise! ππ
With Biden, we should have been dancing on the tables.
But thanks for the sweet thumbs up. π
Putinβs revenge would be robbed of its poetry if it were any other way.
Everyone is just so confused they donβt know how to react, let alone how to stop this speeding landslide into authoritarianism.. but you better figure it out fast because Trump ainβt stopping.
The majority loath Putin, but the 90s showed them what will happen if they don't stay in line.
Plus, Putin just normalized the corruption, like Trump and our media our doing now.
This is true even over here in Australia where weβre facing very similar issues, even with a supposedly βleftistβ government (historically definitely not now).
Same foundations now being laid in America
By the time it was over, the constitution had been rewritten & Putin able to remain president until 2036
Sound familiar?
It should, because we're witnessing the same in America right now.
That's when it all began, that concentration of power, and the seizing of Russia's wealth.
Just like Trump right now, it was the promise of a new golden era, the promise of demolishing the old system for a better one.
They believed the new system would bring great wealth.
And it did. Just look at the photo attached with this thread.
That's Brezhnev's daughter dancing on the table while everyone else was starving in the streets.
.
That's what they really created, and as fast as possible by giving them state assets basically for free.
The floodgates of wealth & corruption flew open, all in the name of "privatization"
Boozed flowed, hookers flown in.
It was one of the most turbulent eras in Russia's history, just like we're experiencing right now with the US.
The ruble lost 34% of its value against the dollar within 4 months
Inflation hit 2508.8%
By 2000 it was 1584892.49%
That's what the average Russian would say now.
There were iron bars on all the windows, burglars everywhere.
Stray packs of gopniks on the streets looking for a prey.
You think Russia was a corruption free country before that?
Putin's entire platform is based on his hero Tsar Nicholas II.
The US did not create the rampant corruption in Russia and its former satellites. It is beyond naive to believe that more aid would have improved results.
Moreover, as the US descends into authoritarianism, how can we guard ourselves from the same pitfalls? Unless the fall is inevitable?
