The bubonic bacteria never disappeared. When I lived in Colorado several years ago, we would see a couple of cases of the plague every year in the ER. It usually came from rats and mice that had the infected fleas and passed them to humans.
As long as I remember, a few cases a year have been found in the southwestern states, but because of science and medicine it's kept to just a few cases, it is treatable in most cases. I'm afraid that will change with the new policies.
Yeah. I didn’t have any clue until I lived in the Intermountain West and read about it after we had a rodent problem in the garage. We took it seriously after that lol
And yet for some reason that doesn't make me feel any better due to the current administration's severe lean towards to safety protection deregulation and general fuckery.
Heres the worst part. I'm allergic to so many veggies...onions, peppers, etc. But I will grow fruits to share with fellow Michiganders and trade for my family to have the other stuff!
You can still drink milk, as long as it's not raw. TB is why we pasteurized milk. You will be OK. If you're still worried, you can purchase ultra-pasteurized milks, like Parmalat, or even organic milk. Organic milk is ultra-pasturized to extend its shelf life.
Good thing we have an administration who believes in the WHO & strong regulatory agencies thru FDA, HHS, FSIS, CDC, etc, to keep the population safe & healthy. Oh wait… We don’t! Those have all been gutted already in week one! 😠😡🤬🤯
Does anyone know if these outbreaks of TB in cows, bird love you ect happen on small family owned farms or corporate farms? More of a curiosity but feel there are too many corporate farms in the states nowadays
Almost nothing we do as a modern, complex (capitalistic) society is sustainable, but this one is gonna kill a lot of people… and due to the cruelty alone, we probably deserve what’s coming, imo.
My theory is these things are related to Natural Selection within environmental degradation and Climate Change.
As environmental conditions change an organism must have or develope adapdability or resistance; and may lose that resistance if its systems are weakened due to those external changes.
Very dangerous for humans, this is one of the reasons we have laws about pasteurizing milk. Before pasteurization, tuberculosis was passed from milk to humans, and will be again
Hunters and people working in slaughter houses can get it too. As per CDC. Bovine TB is way down due to health & safety practices. Things GOP wants to GUT.
I’d say we’re all poised to learn some challenging things about zoonosis but we’re not a learnin’ people and the people in charge are fine with killing us. So I guess we’ll just die dumb.
just more evidence that extreme animal concentration creates ideal conditions for pathogens. Chicken pox, small pox, swine flu, bird flu, e. coli, listeria, Hepatitus E. etc etc. We don't have to eat meat milk and eggs you know....
Regulations were necessary not because of poor practices but because of exploitation & greed.
PLZ name A SINGLE decade in US agriculture history that workers weren't harmed (/k-lled), RichBoys didn't exploit lil guys (seeds/land/freight)& pollution was NOT ignored BC🤑( not ignorance)
Yes! As a farmer/biz person, I've tried to educate people about why well thought out regulation, permitting & oversight is important-health, clean water, air pollution. Little farm guys often get stuck with problems that defunct/bankrupt biz leave-enviro contamination/dangerous structures/etc...
As much as I respect our 'current' planter class, I look at the renewable water practices (global) that are turning deserts into fertile soil & think, THE US MODEL is a result of 2 centuries of BSery.
Upheld by a LOT of greed, grift and exploitation.
From the RRs & westward expans.🤬
Not from the West, but, yes, there is plenty of blame to go around and no one trying to run the Federal Gov, at the moment, cares a whit about the environment. There are decent farmers in the world trying to do the right thing & there is a lot to argue over about what is right & best practices.
Because humans have an insatiable desire for eating flesh, despite the health problems, the environmental problems and the moral and ethical abominations we put animals through.
Lots of vegan recipes online that don't require eggs. If you want to make a souffle or pate choux, it's not going to work. But I regularly make frittatas with tofu, cookies, cakes, muffins etc. For Christmas I made a delicious torte di nonna, which is an italian custard pie
Dude idgaf what trip you're on right now, eggs aren't fkin animals they're chicken abortions. So stupid and get out of my face while the big kids worry about real issues going on like fascism in the white house. No I'm not being nice I'm being kind
In the past 8 days, a large 250k chicken farm burnt in IL, TOTAL LOSS; 8 large Corporate Chicken/Egg places had burden flu. These places keep up to 500k birds.
Corporate Farms are the problem. I get my eggs delivered from local farmers; they have no bird flu.
Tuberculosis in a Michigan herd? First bird flu, now this—our food supply is facing serious risks. Public health officials need to be transparent and proactive. Silence only makes it worse
TB is bad folks. And with incarceration of thousands of people in generally unclean facilities and poor diets, a case will spread like wildfire. Stop this idiot’s destruction of our country’s foundations by using the 25th amendment.

There's even an episode of The Resident about... U guessed it, someone who went camping and came back w/ THAT to a US 🏥 ER 😳🫣
We are in DEEP this time.
I need some goodnews.
I wonder what the common denominator may be….
And, of course, vegetable theft.
Personally, I'm thinking TB could be the next outbreak.

“As of Friday, HCS is working with the school district to identify anyone who may have spent extended periods of time around the person with TB.”
