I would also like to add that it is important to remember that everyone has different strengths and weaknesses, and building diverse relationships can enrich our lives in many ways.
I always try to surround myself with people who I think are smarter than me. A true leader is someone who is not intimidated of the people around him but understands how to use their talents for the success of the team and the company.
Unfortunately success doesn't always cure insecurities. Insecure bosses can't handle being surrounded by intelligent, capable people because they feel smaller if they do.
A good leader should have integrity, self-awareness, courage, respect, compassion, and resilience. They should be learning agile and flex their influence while communicating the vision, showing gratitude, and collaborating effectively.
I always hired people who I thought would be better than me. I wanted people to be successful because that made me successful! Leaders follow leadership they aren't afraid of it! The mrgs that didn't last were the individuals who they acted as mgrs. not as leaders. It's pretty simple!
Real leaders want the sharpest tools in the drawer around them at all times. Narcissistic con men want people as low, insecure and without morals around them at all times. Definitely a difference.

Disagree. Strong and capable people are often found by those who lack the capacity and it is our responsibility as the stronger and more capable person to be just and equal in our strength and to protect those who cannot.
