hey man, seriously congrats. dont apologize for advertising your art or being happy about it. cliche I know but its Important to keep doing Art, creating things, putting stuff out in the world, even more so because things are shitty & going to get worse. It’s a thumb in the eye to all the fuckers
Yea, marketing my books doesn't quite hit the same as it used to, but art brings people joy which is important in times like these, so we gotta keep showing up even as the world burns around us.

I will say, if you have a book coming out, that is cause for celebration even if the world is burning. Feel all the good things you can. Every joy is a positive act of resistance.
Usually, whenever I see this meme, I reply with the 'not fine' version that the original artist made, because they hated that the original became a meme. But this has been sufficiently altered, I'm not sure I should bother...
Meh, why not. Might be a way to tell us more about the book.
Yes, and I know a poet whose book came out in 2020, and her press folded in the early days of the pandemic. Best she could do was buy up inventory of her book and haul it around...
It takes so long to get these things out in the world. I hope you have better luck with the next one.
Books are good. Even if the world was to end tomorrow I would still read a book today. And that implies it's also good that people write books while the world is ending.
The different interpretations here are fascinating.
I read it as "Liberal doomposters rackup followers, likes, views by appealing to hopelessness, then uses clout to advertise their new book." Or their podcast, substack, etc.
I feel this every single day, and have for years. I have several titles out, and there's always a more pressing matter everyone else seems to be focused on - than me talking about my boring old sci-fi books.

Maybe closer to the point if the dog had a podcast, or a memecoin...
