It's actually a generated texture using a tool called Stable Projectionz. It hasn't done a perfect job (see the side launchers). I'm still making my mind up on AI, but as a WIP stand-in it's fine. To get the look right, I'll probably have to bite the bullet and redo them all myself at some point.
I see, it definitely fooled me. I tend to either use obvious placeholders or immediately make something semi-final. Some tool like this for prototyping would speed that up but I'd be worried about a generated texture making it through. I might try recreating the look with photorefs sometime.
To be clear, as my statement is vague here, I wouldn't be happy releasing a game where any of the assets had been generated. But as a stand in test texture while developing, I'm not so bothered.
