I keep seeing folks saying #ImpeachTrump like he hasn't already been impeached twice now and it didn't even slightly stop him from becoming President again.

sure the gop could also 25th amendment him, but all signs point to vance being even worse, bc he’s at least somewhat competent, and is Peter Thiel’s
remora
“3rd times the charm”? Seriously?! That a fart joke attempting to be witty. This is the dumbest thread! Americans need to understand how their government works to not say stupid as shit like that.
Even worse than that, an attempted Trump impeachment attempt (when the GOP own both houses!) which flops, raises the bar for a more serious impeachment later on.
If you're saying impeach him in the House then acquire the required 2/3 majority in the Senate to convict & remove him I'd say that's a long process with quite a lot of damned near fairy tale level assumptions to hang your hat on. Think beyond impeachment
Regardless how far the process goes, it’s about putting down in writing the offenses they have committed (including articles of impeachment for other political appointees in the administration), displaying to the public what is unacceptable, and taking time on the House floor.
I say this to everyone to says to impeach him! He was twice impeached, stayed in office and has now become president again. Nothing touches him. It’s insanity
There's every downside for the Democrats. A failed impeachment would
- discourage a second impeachment, even one with a firmer foundation
- and thus encourage Trump to even greater corruption
- and gift the GOP a "witch hunt" narrative
- make Trump appear invincible
America has a history of winning battles and losing wars.
Each day Trump closes the door, shuts another window, locks away another avenue of escape, soon you won't be able to travel outside the country. He could silence your internet and your cell towers.
That's because the Senate didn't convict. If they had the balls and convicted him he would have been removed from office and wouldn't be able run for his second term.
It’s a two part process- the impeachment is the first part, which allows the senate to vote on removal - no one had the guts to remove. Any impeachment while the GOP owns Congress is theater. If Dems take the midterms they can impeach and remove - but then you have Vance and whoever he picks as VP.
No kidding! The collective USA needs to learn that definition of insanity. You know, the one about doing the same thing over and over and expecting the results to change...
There’s 22 Republikkkan senators up for reelection in 2026. Flipping 20 of them will give Democrats the 67 votes to impeach Trump, Vance, Roberts, Alito, Thomas, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, and Coney-Barrett. If enough people are disgusted with Trump, voters can flip those seats.
If you have the votes to impeach and convict Trump, you can do the same with Vance. Then the Speaker of the House becomes president and that can be anyone the Democratic Party chooses (the Speaker doesn’t have to be a member of Congress).
So you’d be ok with democrats taking out the entire line of succession for the GOP and installing an unelected President? Just because it’s your party doesn’t mean it’s not a coup. Tell me - what would they impeach and remove Vance for? And if Dems have both houses - then the speaker would be a dem
He broke the constitution his first term and was impeached twice - the senate still would not remove him - do you believe they would now? At least 10 of the democrats continue to vote for things like the crypto bill (16 for) and his nominees. The dems are all millionaires.
Impeachment is a political process. There are plenty of grounds to impeach Vance but it could be because of the color of his tie. Call it the McConnell doctrine- having the votes is the only thing required.
None of it matters if the senate won’t vote to remove him. Even Nixon wasn’t removed - he resigned because he thought he would be. No impeached president has ever been removed by the senate.
I will just also mention that Democrats had 60 in the senate in 2009, after losing 5 of 7 preceding presidential elections, because voters were so disgusted by GW Bush.
I have no faith in elections or the political process (and I live in Canada). The People and mass mobilization is the best idea I have but the How remains as yet elusive
The reason we are in this pickle is we failed to win elections. If we mass mobilize to win big in 2026 Trump can be stopped, without a civil war. If we stay mass mobilized to win again in 2028 we could have real change. If you don’t care about elections what are you even talking about?
Unless you see something in the last two Impeachments that you think will somehow result in a 2/3 supermajority vote in the Senate this time around but you sure as hell better be doing more than just waiting for the next election & hoping for an unlikely post Impeachment conviction vote
Is is legal for trump to only target Democratic cities and states for the deportation of immigrants while giving Republican states and cities a pass? Any attorneys out there???
my response is the same for each: for Impeachment to result in an actual conviction and/or removal it has to first pass the House then garner support from 2/3 of the Senate which means you're hanging your hat on a significant # of Republicans having a come-to-jesus moment which is EXTREMELY unlikely
A pet peeve of mine. They really have no idea how it works. To say education has failed this country is the understatement of the 21st century. A stupid society has a stupid government. And stupid is dangerous.
I mean impeachment can lead to real consequences if the Senate doesn’t acquit as it did the first 2 times. But where I’d agree is there’s no point impeaching in House third time without a real chance at 67 Senate votes to convict without which impeachment means nothing again
There are a lot of people new to this fight who don't know that and who also think impeachment means the President has to leave office. Our education system is broken, and I was a teacher here. Still 100% believe in a public education but we need to fix it.
34 convictions didn't stop him from becoming pres. Neither did civil judgement of sexual assault. (SCOTUS)
There never was magic legal thing that will stop him. Until people vote against the threat (republicans/trumpism) and stop looking for purity, we will continue to live under minority rule.
It seems unnecessarily wordy, surely we could pick something shorter, especially when it should be blindingly obvious to everyone that we don't *just* want the very first phase all on its own... /s
If Impeachment passes the House you need 3/4 of the Senate to convict him, something that didn't happen in both 2020 and 2021? Do you figure Republicans will change their stripes in any significant number in 2026 because that's what you're talking about
Well I’ll just ask: what is it about Republicans today that makes you think they’ll be any more sane or reasonable or less evil a year from now than they were in 2020 or 2021?

Carter sold his peanut farm to avoid a conflict of interests.
Dump's cashing in.
I have no idea about how this nonsense can stop, since Executive Branch of govt. has taken over 2 others.

It would also educate the public.

You seem nice.

And don't worry we're absolutely staying home. Your serial failures as a country and a people have left us no choice.
Vance could be impeached for conflict of interest as he is most likely involved with Trumps meme coin and market manipulation
Dereliction of duty
Incitement of violence
Criminal activity (you won’t have to
Violation of his oath of office
Corruption and abuse of power.
Violation of federal laws and ethics rules
Unlawful interference with investigations
Espionage or treason
Incitement of insurrection
Gross misconduct
He’s guilty of many of these offences.
You wouldn't understand.
Is that not enough for you?
We missed twice.
READ MY MIND PLS

There, how’s that?
Are you really Canadian? They’re supposed to be polite 😂.
And we'll stop educating your countrymen once you finally start.
Now get offline and get off your ass, get organized and do something important.
I'm probably not being realistic thinking Thune is any more American than McConnell
