I disagree with so many of your takes, but when our identity is under attack, I am so proud that we are all united under our flag.. I'm looking forward to the days when I can go back to having a different opinion again. Our similarities AND our differences make us Canadian
It's really difficult to believe that the American people are okay with this. My hope is that the worst of it can be over by November 2026, if the mid-terms flip both the House and the Senate. Impeachment charges would stick then.
It's difficult to imagine US citizens willingly giving up on democracy and giving the thumbs up to joining Russia as one of the global villains. I would think that a new Civil War would break out first.
I put nothing past Trump/Vance/MAGA in terms of trying to stymie future elections. I would hope Americans would rise up at that point, but I’m not hopeful. All of my US friends/family are Democrats and none are lifting a finger to oppose any of this. I hope I’m wrong!
I feel that we have all learned the hard way that you can never underestimate the collective stupidity of the American people. The economy will be in free fall by then and they will successfully blame it on migrants, or vaccines or stray cats and vote in a stronger slate of Republicans.
Probably true. And they certainly have a lot to deal with. But in my opinion, there is a crucial distinction between not agreeing and in actively opposing annexation hostilities.
For ten years and two elections. Dems are almost fully Vichy now. Blue America not protesting any more than normal so still mostly the long term protesters without a lot of new people joining
49 % of the American people are Ok with this. 36% of eligible American voters did not vote in the 2024 election. Rupert Murdoch cultivated, corralled the stupidity in American society. Russian money has flooded the red welfare states for decades and here we are.
Maybe it’s not about Canada? Maybe he (USA) needs the money and he can’t directly raise taxes on his own citizens because politics. So, he’s doing this and a side benefit is he gets lots of attention, gets to insult Trudeau. Long game: his own GST: and they’ll be at 5-10%
I’m so tired of journalists who don’t get that if we thought the price of a subscription to their paper was worth it we’d have already done it. If they wanted to promote their ideas and not just the $ gift articles would be their default.
He is trying to destroy anything or anyone who can act as a check on his desires. He wants to be able to call up the PM and order an investigation into one of his "friends" to be dropped. He wants to call up a premier and order a "friend" be given a mining concession.
Yep. Arctic, minerals, water, natural resources. If you cut through all the nonsense noise about fentanyl and other border issues, that’s the clear signal he’s been sending all along.
Disappointingly, but unsurprisingly paywalled. Your bosses at G&B should have the moral clarity to relax the purse strings during these difficult times for our nation.
These folks at G&M led the charge in printing negative articles against PM Trudeau. I’m guess I won’t miss much anyways. What passes for journalism in these rags is frankly not worth the ink.

Perfectly said.
p.s. if you can, please subscribe and support both national and local journalism!

Reduce taxes, get rid of the carbon tax, build new projects. And make our economy competitive again.
Eh?
