I don’t think Trump is coherent enough to have a strategy, but he understands power. Not a bad idea to let Musk attract as much loathing as possible so that, once he’s done all the stuff, Trump can dispose of him in a showy way. Because even those of us who know it’s a bit will enjoy that.

If people hate Elon now what will they do when they find out he made it more likely they’ll die of cancer and never get their social security checks?

He is the centre of the ring wing dis-influencer networks, the sun around which the others orbit.
He owns that whole solar system of hate, he decides who is popular, he pays them.
When these people fall out it gets very high drama very quickly. Because, frankly, neither would have started this without considering the end of this
Yep. Plausible.
Problem is I think Musk may have realised that but simply didn't bargain on the hatred for his brands
It's now a case of who blinks first
Not quite sure where all this, I'm very annoyed with Putin stuff is going though
My cynical side is saying it's just a ploy to make Trump look good when Putin caves into his, Trump's demands
My biggest worry however is the man in the shadows, Peter Thiel. He knew Musk would create chaos and Vance is his protege
However, who knows in this topsy turvy turmoil!
(Yes, Musk could counter-argue a lot of stuff embarrassing to Trump but not straight away and not easily from prison)
Indeed, a Treasury screw-up may prove the excuse Trump needs to dump Musk.

Everything is very unfair
Classic Trump, say the issue shouldn't concern you because soon the thing you're worried about will no longer be a thing.
IOW, he's deflecting again.
At some point he will be sacrificed to deflect the anger of the American people.
