The perception of reality depends on our information environment. Republicans have understood this for decades, Democrats are learning it the hard way. If we want to make sure Trump is blamed, we need a media strategy, message discipline and access to media sources that reach average voters.
Really people just need to stop being online and take a break. Yet another example of the sportification of politics where we are days after an election commentating like we are playing another game on Sunday. It is far too early to comment on the state of anything with any certainty.
I agree with you, but I'm afraid of the media playing softball. Why should people get mad about something they've not even been told about? Considerign the amount of sanewashing during the campaing I'm afraid it could get worse
that is literally the story of this election is people got mad enough about sticker prices that they we were willing to vote for trump, who they thought was extreme
if he actually follows through on his promise and all consumer electronics spike in prices and drop in availability, people will notice and bitch about because Americans are whiny fuckers
Oh no the cult will not change in a significant way until he passes. But it will motivate people who didn't vote in this election to vote again, I'm certain.
I think the fear is that with a trifecta in January, it won’t matter. The infrastructure of the Dem party will be attacked, individuals will have political prosecutions and every other mechanism of elections will be so tilted in GOP favor that any harm caused by his policies will be irrelevant.
Literally fucking everything needs at least one chip that is only manufactured in China. Tariffs on China will absolutely snarl the entire supply chain. It will be like covid again except we did it deliberately for no particular reason.
I think of it more as a race...how much damage can he do/how many things can he rig before then anger/blowback hits hard. The faster the latter happens the better chance we have.
Example: if the president is GOP in 2030 and they control the census we are fucked.
They already knew this was coming if he won. My friend’s dad who’s always supported Trump told him after the election to buy whatever electronics he planned on soon. They view it as a necessary cost for the glorious future they envision Trump bringing forth.
Between this and the inevitable push by the religious right to put porn behind face recognition age verification, young men are about to find out what we all remember from the Bush years: Conservatism is definitely not fun and based.
I just fear he’ll put exceptions for certain companies while not other (which will cause corruption it’s certain, actually even without that it’s certain)
Like popular products will be exempt, but niche ones won’t. So again poorer people will be hit harder

I just don't take any solace or pleasure in it now. So what if he rots away with a 28% approval rating instead of 48%?

I have zero faith the media will, but the cult?

It's a self fulfilling prophesy to say "no one will get mad" if you don't get mad
