Havertz's injury casts a damning light on January. By the end of last month it was obvious to anyone watching that the games, the Euros, the issue in October, the illness were all weighing on a struggling Havertz. And Arsenal gambled on that.

sign somebody, sign anybody is not a reasonable strategy. you have a plan, you follow the project where it leads. bad luck is real. they have to hang on.
Who leads the club's decisions making?
Who holds final say?
If reckless decisions are made, it feels wrong to blame the manager, the public can see what he brings and are savvy enough to know this lack of foresight cannot just be on him.
Who is to blame for this strategic mess? Is it the owners, the lack of a proper Sporting Director, Tim Lewis being too tight or just mixture of the aforementioned?
Refused to pay the January Tax for a poor summer. Should’ve paid up
Seeing people who backed the club for both decisions, tying themselves in knots right now, blaming Arteta’s playing style, the shape of Moon, colour of the grass, rather than just saying , yeah they got it wrong
More of a summer failure. Who wasn’t shocked that we hadn’t added to the front line after all the players that went out? Sterling wasn’t a planned deal.
Genuinely think this is sack-able territory for anyone involved in transfer decision making at the club. Villa & City both signed FOUR players (including a £50m backup to the best striker on the planet). We signed nobody despite losing Saka & Jesus and losing four attacking players in the summer.
In fairness to City, they spent almost nothing during the summer because of the 115 case. They seem to be in the clear, so now they're splashing the cash. Villa were already in the financial redzone, with 90%+ wages to turnover. Now they're even closer to the edge.
That's not to excuse the club for not spending any money in the summer - it was negligent and it's part of why I can't excuse them for not operating in January. It's to point out that those two clubs are not good comparisons.
Agree with you that direct club-to-club comparisons aren't as simple as I'm making out - but my point was more that there clearly were players out there in the market we could have bought - plenty of clubs did go out and strengthen and we were either naive or complacent not to do so

We (Arsenal FC) are turning into the European KSE Franchise; only in it to make money as winning is the last thing on their minds.
Lack of depth, injury & exhaustion all worthy points but Kai has been producing.

Went into a new season with:
-No reliable CF backup
-Only attacking Midfielder in Odegaard
-And no improvement in midfield or the forward line
No transfer is risk free and risks needed to be had taken. Poor Management all around
Attacking players out in summer: Nketiah, Smith Rowe, Nelson, Vieira
Attacking players out in summer: Sterling
Dreadful
