Unoriginal observation, but I feel like people have genuinely forgotten how to have fun with games. Not everything needs to be groundbreaking or life-changing. Not everything needs to raise the bar.
Just...maybe stop being angry for a day.

I put like 70h into the newest Saints Row game that everyone hated because I'm just a sucker for games that let you create and/or customize your character 🤷
Already own them all too, but I have to play a few games with friends and when I do have the time to play the single player games I want, I sometimes just feel like doing something else
But I'm already in the midst of playing the Dark Souls games and DS2 is a lot of content!
i am satisfied
We have enough angst in life seeking more is just exhausting
Its something a lot of people seem to forget.
Wipes eyes and starts over, again..
Games now have all the resources in the world but it seems like everything's a cashgrab & indies are Metroid or Zelda SNES clones and/or collectathons
me discovering some absolutely incredible experiences, or just chill stuff i can play when im
not busy
No, random guy in my lobby, you winning this match won't make you an eSports pro.
Overly focusing on what you don't like can prevent you from realizing something has good.
And, even as a Bioware / Mass Effect fan, I went in with zero expectations and am really enjoying it. All of it!!!
(7.0 update to #Holocure drops November 15th!)
No. Come on. It can just be good. Something you enjoyed watching.
Thank you Shadows of the Damned Hella Remastered. It may be a little rough, but it's still as quirky and silly as it needs to be. Lol
It's okay for something to exist just to give you a good time for a few hours
I thought the side-quests with the trans character Claire were handled respectfully, but I of course don't have the same frame of reference so I can only observe it sympathetically.
I did add a bit more context to my original posting, if that helps in any way.
Still a fan of the game, but acknowledge it's lacking in many ways as well.
I have more thoughts about your ending comment, but they would further potentially spoil the game. You might not see that content, but there is some of it in there. Hope you find it.
Social progress advances far too slowly, and art sometimes reflects that. Cyberpunk dystopia as a setting often reflects the worst of humanity.
Me: *looks at my M2 MacBook*
My MacBook: “Please don’t, boss.”
"You just do the same thing over and over, theres not a lot to it"
ok cool, this same thing is fun to do
"But this game's story is stupid"
noted and agreed upon, now watch me do this stupid thing it lets me do and see why I have fun with it
Or Starfield simply to go to an alien world and watch the sunset?
Or stargazing in a 3D Zelda game?
You know, mundane relaxation activities in games you usually do other stuff in?
I play the game nice and slow, get to know the NPCs, and can experience more of the game while using less.
They just use games as bad coping mechanisms
There are definitely too many people who can't just play a game or watch a movie without picking it apart.
Yes, I saw flaws as well, but guess what? I don't care, it was still enjoyable.
Everyone needs to adopt this mindset.
It's no longer about enjoying games, playing with friends, or having a good time. It's an endless series of proxy grinding, fought by sweaty gamers and comp teams.
Fun--and it's consumption of battle passes--has become a well-oiled machine,
Fun has changed.
And that was such a WTF moment. Just let us gush about our tiny & relaxing builder game >:c
AND YET
wheeeee!
Stopped enjoying the changes, felt disengaged with it and stopped. I felt like the forgotten mid-lifetime playerbase.
Currently doing the same with Stratford and simulation games. Was streaming them until 2020, now - meh!
I'd argue comedy is WAY harder to pull off in a game then anything else tho
I said what I said.
See also, idk, Umurangi Generation? Just a thought.
It's a *very* fun arcady stealth game, but it also carries heavy themes of posthumanism.
Pulp entertainment is fine too.

skill issue of ppl lol
Technology is improving?
People want their dollars worth, and seeing a game be groundbreaking and have new mechanics is what some people want.
I do agree with you when it comes to indie games, not AAA Studios though.
Problem is that I have to add "entertaining" when I said that, because if I just said "6/10" most people take that as me saying it's terrible. I don't get it.
Developers forgot how to make games
It sucks, for sure. But it really is part of the hobby.
Games that make allusions or that want to be "art"... should be evaluated more critically, even if they don't raise the bar and induce people into having fun.
We’re not saying games should raise the bar, in fact we’ve been asking the opposite, but companies have shifted their focus away from making games that are fun to play.
